Facebook is all set to introduce its new feature that would let the users easily remove any message they have sent within ten minutes after sending. This feature is a long-waited one as many other similar applications that are important from social media marketing and digital marketing perspective have already incorporated this functionality a few months back.
There might occur some moments when you wish you had never sent the messages. The new Facebook feature would help you remove the unwanted messages within ten minutes of sending, before the recipient reads it. The company revealed the release of this feature in the release notes of latest Facebook version for iPhone app and marked it as “Coming Soon.”
Having sent a wrong picture or some wrong information, or even sending message in the wrong thread is no more an issue. You can easily remove it before the other person can see it. However, it’s not known yet if this update is designated for Android too.
Before this, the update was expected to be introduced in April. However, instead of that, what actually happened was the quick deletion of messages from the sender’s end only. It didn’t prove to be helpful for deleting messages from the recipient’s side.
The Main Reason behind Introduction of this Feature
According to TechCrunch, the email receipts of Facebook messages revealed that the Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg had earlier sent messages that were no longer visible to people. When this issue was reported, the company claimed that it was as a result of changes in the corporate security measures. Facebook, at that time, didn’t disclose the recipients that the Facebook founder had declined to provide any statement regarding that matter. However, the company announced shortly that soon it’d be launching its “Unsend feature”, the details of which have been revealed in the latest version of application in iPhone.
In case you have accidentally sent a wrong message or information, you can easily correct it by removing the message. The rumors regarding the incorporation of this feature by the company began to circulate earlier this year after it got covered by WhatsApp first, that is already owned by Facebook. Gmail is already offering this feature successfully from several years. Recently, Facebook announced simplification of its messenger application to make the user experience even better.
The three tabs of Chat, people and discover are now placed at the bottom of the application. With chats tab, you can view messages and stories from your friends. People tab shows stories and the people who are currently online, whereas the Discover tab lets you talk to businesses or play games with your friends. Also, Facebook has updated its user interface to make the things look better and more streamlined.
Later in April, Facebook officially announced it would be adding the message unsend feature. The application already allows deletion of messages from the sender’s inbox. Also, Facebook’s owned Instagram already offers unsend feature in its message section that removes the messages from both inboxes, irrespective of the sending time.
According to Wong, the person who has previously identified all the new features of Instagram and Facebook, looking at their respective coding, this feature, unlike Instagram, only allows the user to remove the message within a specific time period of ten minutes after sending the message.
